Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid is a 12-hour (two-day) training course that teaches participants how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis.
Course content includes depression, panic attacks, schizophrenia, substance abuse, psychosis, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, suicidal thoughts and behaviours, traumatic events and self injury. The course, delivered by a certified trainer, equips individuals with:
- understanding of a range of mental health issues
- skills in recognising signs of mental health problems
- skills in responding appropriately and effectively
- understanding of where and how to get help.
Any adult (18 years and over) interested in increasing their understanding of mental health is welcome to attend an upcoming workshop. All participants receive a Manual and Certificate of Completion.
